It's not called A-Nerf for nothing. Glad to hear your recovering. If it wasn't for the great friends I've made in GW I would have left it a long time ago as it has now turned into Grind Wars. See you in GW2 if and when it comes out.

Over the weekend I ordered two large batches of the Warhammer cool-aid. I don't think I've ever gone "fanboi" on any game I've played. I might talk about how fun it may be to me, but I'm not blind to the problems either. That's probably the reason when I did RingCast and started being a bit critical of Turbine, contact was cutoff about interviewing one of their Community Managers.

Its really aggrivating when you try to ask about an issue or mention a problem, and you get hammered by either the haters or the fanbois. I remember back during the early days of LOTRO, you would be accused of either not playing enough because you were low level, telling you it gets better at higher levels, or if you were a high level then you rushed through the content. AoC wasn't much better (forum-wise), but was more like Barrens Chat on steroids. I think that some of the game companies are wise for deciding to not even fool with official forums, just to avoid all the drama and smack-talking that goes on.

But yeah Shawn, it does get rather silly with folks jumping in to defend or complain about a game that isn't even out yet. You really don't see folks doing that with say, something like a dishwasher or a car. This type of behavior has even spilled over into normal non-MMO games, like with the petition for Diablo 3 to change the colors.

Congrats Shawn, finally getting to make a living at what you enjoy is something that most people want to do, but for the most of us we just tolerate what we do and tell others we enjoy it, when deep down we'd rather be somewhere else. Its a hard step to turn loose of the working for someone else in a standard position to that of pretty much being self-employed, and having to motivate yourself to constantly produce quality work that others are interested in. I know you will have no difficulty in this area, as you have been aligning yourself to do just this for years, honing your skills on the various podcasts and blogs for years, and now that hard work is paying off. Again, congrats on making that dream come true for youself.

What funny is my family always raised most of their own meat. Up until I was about 20, my grandfather raised a cow for us, my uncle, and himself. We occasionally got a treat by buying a pig, so we got really great bacon from it, that as kids we called "pig bacon", and the store bought bacon was just cruddy "store bacon". We always took them to the processor, which did a much better job of butchering that we could ever hope to. The funny part is when I was in school, all the kids were much taller than me and matured much faster. Come to find out years later, by us raising our own cattle and having well water, I didn't get any of the growth hormones and who knows what else commercial meat gets pumped into it. So if you wonder why the 12 year old next door looks like she's 20, you can point much of the blame at all the hormones/chemicals that they pump into the animals to make them grow faster.

Also, you weren't sober at the bar. You were the one telling us of your wild days as a Plushie in '97.
